We gather for worship today with great rejoicing to welcome our brethren who have joined the family of Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church in transfer of membership, baptism and reaffirmation of faith.

Reaffirmation of Faith

Baptism is one of two sacraments in the local church. The other is the Lord’s Supper. Water Baptism is a public affirmation of the inward faith in a believer’s heart, in obedience to Christ’s commandment to the church in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20).

 Every born-again believer is to seek baptism and be a member of a local church for service and accountability, to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 Candidates for baptism and reaffirmation of faith have completed a foundational course in the basic tenets of the Christian faith and examined by the pastor. Upon baptism, the believer is invited to partake the Lord’s Supper.

Before partaking the Lord’s Supper the baptised believer spends time in self-examination to make right with God in confessional prayer.

The Lord’s Supper is taken in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and the shedding of His blood for the cleansing of our sins. As Christians, we also look forward to the blessed day when Jesus Christ would return and all believers are “called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb” to partake with Christ in this heavenly feast (Rev. 19:9).

There is spiritual blessing for all who partake the Lord’s Supper with contrition of heart and self-examination (1 Corinthians 11:31 cf. 1 John 1:9).
