Romans 1:20, Evidence of a Created World

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The psalmist David declared the unceasing evidence of the infinitely glorious power of a living God as the Perfect Creative Designer of this universe in psalm 19:1-3, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”

It renders men without excuse not to acknowledge his Creator God. Although God is invisible, He showed Himself visible is His creation. We are reminded  in Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. This is the greatest self-authenticated statement that needs no proof. Rather it requires faith in the evidence of nature to affirm the truth of a Creator God.

The world was made for man’s enjoyment. God made the world for man’s pleasure, for his delight. Only man can appreciate the beauty of the world around him, its glorious beauty and grandeur. The animals cannot appreciate beauty like man does. The created world is for man to appreciate, for his pleasure, for his enrichment and enjoyment. The peacock does not appreciate its own beauty but for man’s visual pleasure.

The stars, the galaxy beyond, the snow-capped mountain, the glorious waterfall, the beautiful variety of flowers and birds, the variety of animals are created for our appreciation. Do we take time to observe the living world around us? It points us to our Creator God.

For example, the amazing camel that is able to regulate its own body temperature so that it is able to survive desert conditions when man with a constant body temperature can’t. A camel doesn’t always need a direct source of water and food for long periods in desert conditions. The hump of the camel is for storage of fat, which the camel uses as energy when food sources aren’t available. When food is plentiful the camel will overeat and store the excess as fat in its hump. As the fat in the hump is converted to energy in times of scarcity, the hump begins to shrink. However, once the camel is able to rest and eat, the hump will become firm and plump again. Truly, the created world leads us to acknowledge our Creator God.

May we take time to observe and take delight to appreciate the beauty of the created world around us and give glory to God this day. Amen.
