Romans 7:1-4, Blessed of God

Romans 7:1-4 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. 4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

The believer, abiding in Christ, fulfills the law of God, namely, the Ten Commandments in that he loves:

I  the BEING of God  (No other gods)

II   WORSHIP of God  (Not make any graven image)

III  NAME of God  (Not take God’s name in vain)

IV   DAY of God  (Keep the Sabbath Day Holy)

V   REPRESENTATIVE of God  (Honour thy father and mother)

VI   BODY of man  (Not kill)

VII  MORALITY of man  (Not commit adultery)

VIII  PROPERTY of man  (Not steal)

IX  PERSONALITY of man  (Not bear false witness)

X  PROSPERITY of man  (Not covet)

The outworking of the commandments in the believer’s life is described in his love for God and for his neighbour. There is the forthcoming reward from Christ when He returns to receive His church to glory and rewards His servants.

Matthew 25:34-40 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

May the Lord help us to fulfill His will in our lives. Amen.
