Romans 10:8-11, The Glorious Gospel that Saves
Romans 10:8-11 (KJV) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Thank God for the gospel. Salvation would become impossible if we have to keep the law to be saved. The sinful nature in man renders it impossible for him to keep the law as summarized in the Ten Commandments. But salvation comes by faith in the truth that God has raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Faith in the heart and confession of the mouth is God’s way of saving a soul destined for judgment in hell fire.
Visited a brother in Christ who understood this truth. Though the outward man perishes, the inward man is renewed day by day. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, death is a frightening prospect. But Jesus did rise from the dead. He conquered death by His death and resurrection from the dead. We expect the dead in Christ to be resurrected! A glorious prospect. A glorified body Jesus Christ will give to us at His return.
This is our blessed hope. By this, we encourage our brethren to be strong, in the day of adversity. Amen.
