Romans 10:15, Sent Forth to Preach
Romans 10:15 (KJV) 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
There were no modern transport or communication system during Paul’s days like the ease of transportation and communication we have today. He went mostly on foot, having to cover large distances amidst physical toil and weariness to preach the gospel to the Gentile world.
The Apostle Paul or Saul and his companion Barnabas were sent by the church in Antioch to preach the gospel.
Acts 13:1-3 (KJV) 1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
The Apostle Paul described the feet of those who carries the gospel to the unsaved as beautiful because it carries the beauty of God’s holiness to the sin-stricken with reference to the ministry of Jesus Christ. The prophet Isaiah wrote those words pointing the people to the coming Christ more than 600 years later (Isa. 52:7). We, today, look backwards in time to the finished work of Christ in His life and in His death to receive true peace and joy! God continues to send men and women forth to preach the gospel. May He raise men and women to carry the torch of the gospel in this generation. Amen.
