Lord’s Day, Vol. 4 No. 25
Family Bible Camp 2016
Thank God for gathering 80 campers for BHBPC’s 3rd Family Bible Camp from 15 -18 June 2016 at Swissôtel the Stamford in Singapore.
The theme of our camp is “The Christian Home”. The family unit is the basic nucleus of the church family. Spiritually healthy families will make a healthy church family ready to advance God’s kingdom as we see the day of the Lord’s Second Coming fast approaching.
Our camp messages endeavoured to answer the following questions:
(1) Why did God create the human race with a family system?
(2) Why do we have a heavenly Father?
(3) Why did God give us children?
(4) Why is the husband and wife union a type of our relationship with Christ?
The psalmist reminds us this perennial truth: Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
When a man builds his home according to God’s blueprint, it would truly be blessed of God. In the final equation, it is all that matters.
There were 8 messages answering to our camp theme:
(1) Institution of the Family
(2) Relations in the Family (I) – Husband and Wife
(3) Relations in the Family (II) – Parenthood
(4) Relations in the Family (III) – Children
(5) The Family Altar
(6) Resolving Family Conflict
(7) The House of God
(8) The Final Family Union in Heaven
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we all have three homes.
- Our heavenly home that is our eternal dwelling place in heaven.
- Our church home that is our extended family bonded together by the blood of Christ.
- Our family home with father, mother and children held together by blood ties.
Biblical Perspective of Our Earthly Life:
- Our earthly life is the training ground for our heavenly life.
- Our earthly life is a temporal sojourn compared with our heavenly life that is eternal.
- Our earthly life is to be lived as strangers and pilgrims transiting to a better life.
- Our earthly life is not all there is to life.
Elder Paul Tsao and Eld Sim Siang Kok shared on true Christian living and from Psalm 103:1-5 respectively in the morning devotions. Brother Patrick Tan also conducted a tracting workshop touching on personal evangelism and how to present the gospel clearly and completely.
Thank God for answering our prayers in granting all campers a blessed time of studying His Word, sweet fellowship, safety and good health. To God be the glory. Amen.
Yours lovingly,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
