Romans 14:13, Foster True Peace
Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
The Apostle Paul giving practical advice that foster true peace among brethren in Gal. 5:13-15:
Galatians 5:13-15 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
- Serve one another (v13)
- Love one another (v14)
- Devour not one another (v15)
We have been given this freedom from the bondage of sin. Let us not abuse this freedom by allowing the flesh to manifest itself Gal. 5:19-21. This word “serve” is a command the believers are to do continually as a habit of life. It means “to do service, to perform services of kindness and Christian love.” [Thayer Lexicon]
To love one another is to treat others like how you would like others to treat you. And to devour describes the scheming heart to get gain by destroying the other person.
May the Lord bless His people. Amen.
