Romans 15:8-9, Jesus is Saviour to Both Jews and Gentiles
Romans 15:8-9 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: 9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
The Apostle Paul testifies by his personal experience in his encounter with the ascended Christ on the Damascus road and was gloriously saved, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (1 Timothy 2:5-6 ) He further testifies of his calling to service, “Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.” (1 Timothy 2:7).
This is the credential of the Apostle Paul and He affirms that this Christ is the Saviour of all mankind, both Jews (the circumcision) (v8) and Gentiles (the uncircumcision) (v9). And being sent by Christ to bring the gospel to the Gentile world, he saw the Gentiles giving glory to God for His mercy in saving them through Christ Jesus. Quoting from Psalm 18:49, the Apostle Paul saw the psalmist David’s futuristic anticipation of gentile conversion, “Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.“
Because of God’s mercy, both Jews and Gentiles can find salvation through Jesus, the only Saviour for all mankind. Hallelujah! May we extol His name for the great salvation He has wrought in our hearts. Amen.
