Romans 16:19-20, Your Obedience to God’s Truth
Romans 16:19-20 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
The Apostle Paul commends the believers in Rome for their adherence to God’s truth. Their piety before God is attested by the approval of godly men. He cautions them not to yield to temptation, the enticement to sin, encouraging them to adhere to that which is good and shun that which is evil.
The day is coming when we shall struggle no more with sin in this mortal body. Satan will be defeated. In fact, Satan is a defeated foe. Jesus has defeated over Satan when He was crucified on the cross. Jesus encouraged His disciples to look to Him to find peace and victory when He said in John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
God’s peace abides with His people when they abide in Him through obedience to His Word. And Jesus, our ascended intercessor, will grant us His grace to have victory now and forevermore. Amen.
