1 Corinthians 3:20-21, Let No Man Glory in Men
1 Corinthians 3:20-21 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours.
The Apostle Paul speaks of a perennial problem of man to exalt self. Rather, man is to know his position before God and be willing to abase himself. Let no man glory in men is the admonition. Pride is the oldest sin. It was the sin that caused Lucifer, the most perfect of God’s angels to be cast down to earth.
By five thoughts of self-exaltation, Lucifer was cast out from heaven – Isaiah 14:12-15 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Sin did not begin on earth with the fall of Adam and Eve but with the fall of Lucifer who later came as the serpent to tempt Adam and Eve (Genesis 3).
Indeed, we must see to decrease and Christ increase in our lives as John the Baptizer understood well as he testified in John 3:30-31 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. May God’s Name be exalted in our lives this day. Amen.
