1 Corinthians 3:21-23, Christ Is God’s
1 Corinthians 3:21-23 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
The church is united in Christ. Christ is sent by God the Father to save men from their sins and to prepare them for eternity in heaven. When men try to divide the church by rising factions, the Apostle Paul warned, the mission of the church is compromised.
The one sole purpose of the church is to bring glory to God. Let no man usurp the preeminence of God in the midst of His people. The Apostle Paul reminds the Christians in Corinth the right view of God’s servants. They are labourers together with God. Servants of the most high God, given to His service, instruments for His glory. Given for the strengtheningĀ of the church. Let this purpose not be compromised through the undermining of God’s mission for His servants.
Rebellion against God begins when men deviate from putting God first in their affections. It happened with Lucifer, it happened with Adam and Eve, with Cain, with the men who constructed the tower of Babel. God always intervene to save men from self-destruction. This was the purpose of Christ’s mission on earth to save men from themselves albeit in the church, the last bastion of safety on earth.
May God be merciful to preserve His church is the heart cry. Amen.
