1 Corinthians 7:29-31, Our Indulgences

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; 30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; 31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

The Christian is to set is affections on the things that has eternal value. This world passes away and all there is therein. Whether earthly relationship between husband and wife, the emotions that overtakes us during the various circumstances in life whether it be sorrow or joy, the material possession that we own in this life time and  all that is in this world is but temporal.

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Let us be circumspect concerning how we could devote our time and life.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Let our endeavours be eternally profitable. Amen.
