1 Corinthians 11:32, When We Are Judged
1 Corinthians 11:32 (KJV) 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
William MacDonald observed well, “God is dealing with us as with His own children. He loves us too dearly to allow us to go on in sin. Thus we soon feel the shepherd’s crook on our necks pulling us back to Himself. “
It is out of love that God corrects His children that they may conform to His image – Hebrews 12:5-9 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
The Apostle Paul is advocating confession and repentance that comes from a broken and contrite heart ready to make right with God before partaking the Lord’s Supper. There is hope for such a one. Amen.
