1 Corinthians 12:21, The Eye Cannot Say
1 Corinthians 12:21 (KJV) 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
William MacDonald said well, “Just as it is folly for one person to envy another’s gift, so it is equally foolish for anyone to depreciate another’s gift or feel that he doesn’t need the others. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” The eye can see things to be done, but it can’t do them. It depends on the hand for that. Again, the head might know that it is necessary to go to a certain place, but it depends on the feet to take it there.”
The proper functioning of the body requires the participation of every individual member. Depending on the needful function, the individual relevant member bears the burden on behalf of the body. As such, each is precious and each a contributing member to the overall well-being. Therefore, there is a need for a rightful regard for every individual member.
May the Lord grant the church a biblical perspective of to rightly esteem her members. Amen.
