1 Corinthians 12:28, After That Miracles and then Gifts of Healing

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Matthew recorded in our Lord Jesus sending his twelve disciples empowering them with the gift of miracles and healing – Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

It is notable to observe these gifts were given to authenticate the gospel message that men everywhere may repent – Matthew 10:7-8 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

It is recorded in the Scriptures the healing of the lame man through the Apostle Peter –  Acts 3:6-8 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

The Apostle Paul also cause the young man Eutychus to be miraculously raised from the dead Acts 20:9-10 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. Such power of miracles and healings gradually wanes towards the close of the Acts of the Apostles. It was a special epoch in the history of the church before the Scriptures were completed. Amen.
