1 Corinthians 13:6, Charity Rejoiceth In the Truth (2)

1 Corinthians 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.

Biblical love enables the Christian father to discipline his son. He instructs, corrects and chastises his son who has erred from the truth. It grieves the father’s heart to have to correct his son but he knows that it will help his son to walk right again. He will not hesitate to correct his son because he knows that obeying the commandments of God is a blessing for his son. It will do his son good for the discipline brings the son to the blessing of obeying the truth as he repents from his waywardness.

There is a Spirit-enabled gladness and joyousness toward embracing God’s Word because the Christian’s awakened conscience yearns for holiness and has a holy hatred for sin. He gladly hearkens to the truth because it cleanses his sinful heart and replaces it with the beauty of holiness. He will love God’s ways and God’s people. He will love the Lord’s Day and be willing to work for six days and rest on the Sabbath. He will not rejoice in forsaking the Sabbath rest for the sake of earning that extra dollar. He will trust God to provide for him his needs in those six days that he works. True love comes with an innate joy to obey the truth, to live by the truth. It is a conviction of heart that enables the Christian to joyously suffer to obey the truth.

May the Lord grant His people the gladness of heart to obey the truth. This special enabling of the Holy Spirit for us to submit to God’s truth is God’s gift to His children. Such joy begets more joy. May your Christian walk grow from strength to strength as you constantly and continually seek to grow in love for God’s ways in every area of your life. Amen.
