1 Corinthians 15:17-18, Fallen Asleep in Christ
1 Corinthians 15:17-18 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
For the Christian, death is but a temporary sleep. A day is coming when he shall awake from his sleep to be clothed with a glorified body, remade anew. This is the truth that is conveyed when the Apostle Paul declared that Christ has risen from the dead. The Christian’s faith is not in vain. By the resurrection, death and sin are overcome. As such, the dead in Christ does not perish but awaits a coming awakening to everlasting physical life with a new body that God will give!
The prove of the resurrection is the spiritual strength in the Christian to live holy lives by the grace of God. There is a holy desire to love and obey the commandments of God. There is a desire to worship the Lord in His House on the Lord’s Day. There is a vibrant prayer life.
Thank God that the Christian faith is true and the power over sin is real. Amen.
