1 Corinthians 15:51-52, We Shall Be Changed
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
The Bible predicts in the coming future, a coming instant where born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ shall put on a glorious and incorruptible body that is fit for heaven and shall be ushered to meet our Lord in the heavens. Theologians call this the rapture of the church where the believers are caught up to heaven. Just as Enoch in the book of Genesis was taken to heaven bodily.
Genesis 5:19-23 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
The difference is that all believers are taken to heaven, not just one person in Enoch’s time. Also, as fast as the eye twinkles, a glorious event will take place where the dead in Christ shall first be raised with glorious and incorruptible bodies. This is the believers’ blessed hope. Death is not an impasse, sickness that leads to death is not an impasse. May the truth and the sure hope of the resurrection strengthen God’s people. Amen.
