1 Corinthians 16:13, Watch Ye, Stand Fast in the Faith

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

The church in Corinth is exhorted to be watchful, for their soul’s sake, for their spiritual well-being. They are exhorted to stand fast, to keep up in building themselves up spiritually. The spiritual enemies are lurking at the doors – the flesh, the world, and the devil. Three commands here – watch, stand fast and becoming strong. Build these spiritual habits!

In this respect, believers are exhorted to read the Bible and pray every day to be strong spiritually. We are not to give ourselves excuses but take up the responsibility of taking care of our own spiritual well-being in a disciplined manner. Believers are exhorted to put priority in worship and corporate prayer for their spiritual advancement. Believers are encouraged to be involved in bible-study for their spiritual strengthening.
