2 Corinthians 1:3-4, Father of Mercies
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Our Father in heaven is called the Father of mercies because He dispenses His mercies to His people. Daniel admits in his prayer to this truth in Daniel 9:9-10 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him; neither have we obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
If God has not been merciful to us, we would have been consumed by His wrath. Yet God has not dealt with us after our sins but sent forgiveness our way when we realized our sins and confessed them before Him. This pardon we received under the auspices of Jesus Christ who took our sins on the cross.
Thank God for sparing our certain punishment for sins through Jesus Christ. Amen.
