2 Corinthians 1:3-4, God of All Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Believers in the face of afflictions can attest to God’s help in sending relief, comfort and solace. It is in their experience of God’s presence in their afflictions that gives them the confidence to recommend Him to others going through affliction.
This is the psalmist’s experience when he testified in Psalm 46:1-3 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah; set to Alamoth. A Song. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change, And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, Though the mountains tremble with the swelling thereof. Selah
The reality of God in the believer’s life provides an inner strength to face the challenges that life may bring. And the victory experienced in going through trials with God provides the wisdom to exhort and encourage others who may be going through similar trials to be strengthened and established in the faith. Amen.
