Lord’s Day, Vol. 6 No. 47

(1) Royal Priesthood

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

As you pray for God’s mercies to be granted, take with you these thoughts:

  1. The infinite willingness of God to bless. His very nature is a pledge of it. He delights in mercy. He wants to be gracious. His promises and the experience of His saints assures us of it.
  2. The weak church, the lack of power of the Holy Spirit, is all because of the lack of prayer. How different would be the state of the Church and of the world if God’s people were to unceasingly call on Him!
  3. Yet God has blessed – just up to the measure of the faith and the zeal of His people. If He has thus blessed weak prayers, what will He do if we yield ourselves wholly to a life of intercession?
  4. This is a call to repentance and confession! Our lack of consecration has held back God’s blessings from the world. He was ready to save, but we were not willing for the sacrifice of a wholehearted devotion to Christ and His service.

(2) Call for Decision

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Are you willing to give yourself totally to the power of Jesus Christ to make intercession for God’s Church and for the dying world? Will you make this the main object of your life? Is it too much to yield your life to the Lord who gave Himself for you?

Intercession should not take a subordinate place in the teaching and practice of the Church with its ministers and members. It is of such supreme importance as to make it an essential, altogether indispensable element of true Christian life. There can be no doubt about this to those who take God’s Word in its full meaning.

Child of God, God count upon you to take your place before His throne as an intercessor. Renew that consciousness of your holy calling as a royal priesthood. Begin to live life in the assurance that intercession is the highest privilege a man or woman can desire. Accept the Word with great expectation: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” [Extracted and edited from The Andrew Murray 365-Day Devotional Bible]

May the Lord bless His saints as we pray one for another. Also, make an appointment with the Lord to come for Family Day on 15 December. Theme: “… and there Jesus prayed.” (Mark 1:35). Amen.

Yours lovingly,
