2 Corinthians 3:9-10; My Yoke Is Easy
2 Corinthians 3:9-10 9For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. (2 Cor. 3:9-10 KJV)
When God began the nation of Israel, He provided them visual aids to explain His salvation plan through Jesus Christ, the foremost Son of Israel. All the law, setting up of the Tabernacle in the wilderness, pointed to Christ. In Christ, Israel as a nation found her sufficiency. All the sacrifices enacted in the Tabernacle and later in the Temple helps God’s people to see the redeeming work of Christ.
Indeed, the greater glory of God was seen by the people of God when Jesus Christ walked on earth. He came in human flesh, lived a perfect life, a fit sacrifice, to bear our sins, so that we can be reconciled to God through Christ. Today, we look back in faith at the accomplished work of Christ upon the cross for our salvation. Christ died for our sins and three days later rose from the dead for our justification.
Indeed, as the people in the Exodus saw the manifestation of God in the miracles of their deliverance and the communication of God with them through Moses in the giving of the Law, it is but a shadow of the glory to come, when God, in the fullness of time, came in human form, walked in the Promised Land. He healed the sick, cast out the demons, stilled the storm and raise the dead showing us that in Him, Jesus, is life everlasting.
The Apostle Paul sought that the Christians in Corinth understand their privileged position in Christ. No need for Temple sacrifices any longer, as Jesus Himself declared, “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30). We have direct access with the heavenly Father through Jesus Christ at the throne of grace, finding help meet for every moment of our earthly sojourn. This is the greater glory Christians are to appropriate. Thank God for this great privilege. Amen.
