2 Corinthians 4:15; All Things For Your Sakes

2 Corinthians 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

The Apostle Paul rehearsed the goodness of God toward the church in Corinth. The gospel was sent through the gospel team amidst persecution to effect an eternal transformation in their lives translating them from the misery and sorrow of sin, death and hellfire to the happy prospect of holiness, healing and heaven. The abundant favour of God has been showered, grace upon grace, day by day, moment by moment. He urged the Corinthian Christians to count their blessings. Give thanks to God alway.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

  • Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God has done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
*Count your many blessings, see what God has done.
[*And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.]

Indeed, he is saying to them that it was for their sakes that God brought about the establishment of this local church for the preparation of His people for heaven to come. As such, may the people of God appropriate every privilege of worship, of prayer, of the study of His Word that they may be conformed to the image of Christ. The glory of God on earth is His church, a people called out from the world, to give praise to His Name.

May we not neglect the assembling of ourselves as we see the day of His coming fast approaching. Let us exhort one another to love and good works. Amen.
