2 Corinthians 5:12; For Your Cause
2 Corinthians 5:13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
The zeal of the Apostle Paul and his mission team was misconstrued, they were branded falsely as being insane. Their zealousness was for the service of God and for the well-being of the believers in Corinth. They were passionate and fully devoted to the cause of God. This is not the first instance that he was charged with madness, Festus said the same in Acts 26:24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
As we survey the life of Christ, our Lord Jesus was also charged likewise by His “friends” – Mark 3:20-22 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. It is interesting that the truly insane was cured by Jesus, the Man charged with insanity – Mark 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
May the strengthen the heart of God’s servants committed to His cause to persevere with the good work of serving His people who may in some way be discouraged in their service in His vineyard – Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Amen.
