2 Corinthians 6:10; As Sorrowful, Yet Alway Rejoicing
2 Corinthians 6:10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Sorrow is a part of the Christian demeanour living as one with a poverty of spirit, how we are spiritually bankrupt and how we ought to mourn for our sins. The Apostle Paul was acutely aware of his own sinfulness. He sought to daily follow his Master, Christ, crucifying self and resisting the world’s system, the tempter’s lure. Through self-examination and confession and repentance before God, he sought a clear conscience daily. He experienced the comfort of sins forgiven, peace and joy through the Holy Ghost.
The Lord sent him to preach the gospel, often encountering rejection. He was especially sad when his own countrymen, the Jews, rejected the gospel. God enabled through the conversion of souls to establish churches in Asia and Europe. The spiritual state of believers in these churches was a primary concern in his heart. When he saw their waywardness, it saddened his heart. Nevertheless, he was given to prayer and the Word. Seeking God to restore the lost and strengthen the weak.
There was much joy walking with God. He experienced the presence of his Master with him guiding and instructing and directing his steps. He was able to rejoice continually, attesting to an unbroken faith that lits and burns in his heart, the joy of life with God. Praise God for the testimony of His servant to the reality of a triumphant ministry. Amen.
