2 Corinthians 13:11; Finally, Brethren, Farewell (2)

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

The Apostle Paul sought for the Corinthian church to have the mind of Christ, living in spiritual unity and peace.

Romans 8:5-8 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

The Apostle Paul gives the contrast of a life guided by the Holy Spirit and a life given over to the flesh. To be carnally minded is death. To be spiritually minded is life and peace. His prayer for them was that God’s peace may prevail amongst them.He reminded to live for the things that are eternal not the things that are temporal. He was reminding them the heavenly value system he has imparted to them. This is very different from the temporal gratification that the flesh offers us in this world. True peace is a life without regrets. He sought that their spiritual life will grow from strength to strength.

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psalm 34:18-19) Amen.
