Lord’s Day, Vol. 7 No. 44
(1) Home-going of Mr Tang Kok Kwan
Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
In our weekly newsletter on 29 September 2019 was recorded the testimony of the baptism and confession of faith of Mr Tang Kok Kwan which took place on 26 September 2019 and 14 September 2019 respectively. Mr Tang Kok Kwan went home to be with the Lord on 26 October 2019. The family received the call from the nursing home before midnight on 26 October 2019.
Upon receiving the call, I was contacted and arrangements were made for the vigil service to be held on 27 October 2019 5.45pm at the “The Glory Room” of the Garden of Remembrance.
My last visitation with Mr Tang Kok Kwan at the Nursing Home was on 24 October 2019 at 5pm. At that time, he was able to open his eyes slightly, as I prayed with him and singing choruses close to his ear. Thank God for giving this precious time with him.
It was decided with the family that the funeral will be held on 28 October 2019 at 11.30pm before the cortege will leave for the Choa Chu Kang Christian cemetery for burial at 12.00pm.
The vigil service was held earlier at 5.45pm to facilitate the support from members of the church after our Lord’s Day worship service. It also enabled the bereaved family of Mdm. Peh, Meng Way, Jacqueline, Jovan and Janelle to travel the distance to the site of the wake and return home after the vigil service while it is still daylight and before a thunderstorm that night.
The church family came to comfort and support the bereaved family. Some volunteered to present a song item “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” to the comfort of the family during the vigil service on 27 October with a word of exhortation from Ecclesiastes 3.
Thank God for granting good weather for the burial service of Mr Tang Kok Kwan on 28 October 2019 at 12.10pm.

We shall look at the Three Principles of Bible Study – “C…I…A…”.
(1) The Joshua 1:8 principle of Contextualization
(2) The 2 Timothy 2:15 principle of Interpretation
(3) The 2 Timothy 3:16-17 principle of Application
Self-Reflection Questions:
(1) How much time per day do you spend on personal Bible Study? You may include your quiet time as well. May I ask a more probing question, how much devotion do you spend on personal Bible Study?
(2) Do you think it is helping your spiritual growth?
(3) Why study the Bible? Know the Biblical Concerns when God’s people fail do not know God’s Word.
(4) How can we make a difference in these last days of wantonness in the world around us?
After lunch, we shall take a walk together to the Fort Canning Centre for “The Bicentennial Experience” – From Singapore to Singaporean: The Bicentennial Experience brings to life Singapore’s momentous evolution from 1299, shaped by wider regional and global shifts. It comprises an immersive, ticketed experience within the Fort Canning Centre, and a free and easy exploration through pavilions within the greenery of Fort Gate.
May the Lord grant us good weather and a blessed Family Day 2019.
Yours lovingly,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
