Revelation 2:21-23; Repent of Her Fornication
Revelation 2:21-23 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
There was time given for graciously by the Lord for this false prophetess at Thyatira to repent and if repentance is not forthcoming, only judgment remains.
This word “fornication” refers to both includes both physical and spiritual adultery. The word “fornication”used primarily to describe illicit sexual relations especially of those who are unmarried. This sin is rampant today not only among non-Christians but also among Christians. It is sin. We have spoken of spiritual fornication thus far, but it includes physical fornication, sexual sins.
It is interesting to note the word “Fornication”, Dr. WA Waite observed, is used 32 times in the King James Bible but in the New King James Version it is only 12 times and in the New America Standard Version it is 4 times and in the NIV, zero times.[1]
1 Corinthians 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which isin you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
God wants His born again people to abstain from the sin of fornication. Our young people ought to be controlled. Our children ought to be controlled, supervised on these so-called dates that they have. One way of avoiding the temptation to commit the sin of fornication by young people (or even older people) is for them not to pair-off privately. The Christians in Thyatira were fornicating.
Psalm 62:12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongethmercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. Amen.
