Revelation 3:14; The Amen

Revelation 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Two pertinent thoughts for this church that the spirit of God brings before us: (1) Deluded Spiritual Wellness Exposed (v14-17) (2) True Spiritual Wellness Encouraged (v18-22).

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Our Lord addressed Himself as the Amen, the God who speaks the truth, the God of truth, the God wherein the truth is faithfully spoken. He is called the faithful and true witness. He sets the standard for the measurement of truth. He is the One who establishes all God’s promises. As Paul would put it:

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Even as falsehood abounds, He stands true. By Him truth established. By Him, the faithful and true witness, hypocrisy and all falsehoods exposed. He speaks the truth. He is correct, dependable in His assessment. He is entirely trustworthy as a witness. One whose testimony never falls short of the truth![1]The church in Laodicea is without excuse but to submit to Christ’s assessment of their spiritual state.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood…

How do we know He is the Truth? By His shed blood on the cross, our sins are washed away, we have now the ability by the power of God to triumph over sin.

All praise to our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
