Revelation 4:2; The Throne of God
2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
The throne of God is the central focus and the object of heaven. Everything revolves around the throne. John saw first, upon entering heaven.
John does not attempt to name, much less describe, God! He used the colours of two brilliant gems to describe God.
“Jasper” or diamond is a clear crystal. “Sardine” has the most perfect red colour. The absolute purity and redemption of God is surrounded by a rainbow, which is a sign of God’s covenant with His people.
Therefore, although Revelation presents God executing judgment, there is purity and redemption as well as covenant integrity surrounding heaven’s judgments.
Indeed, heaven is real. A place for God’s prepared people. Amen.
