Revelation 8:13; Woe, Woe, Woe

Revelation 8:13 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

Three woes in succession emphatically pronounced the misery inflicted and announcing the misery to come for the inhabitants of the earth. The unbelieving world cannot pretend not to know the living and true God when His messenger was sent to so clearly made known His intention to them. That men everywhere may repent!

Swindoll observed well, “Add natural darkness to this situation and the result would be anarchy and chaos. Rioting, looting, and crime would exacerbate the horrors experienced around the globe… The first four trumpet judgments, like the first four seals of Revelation 6, form a distinct cluster. They are loud, rapid-fire blasts that seize the attention of the entire world. Following these, however, three additional judgments would transpire. These will be slower, longer, and even more excruciating than the previous four.”

God’s prophets, His apostles, human emissaries have been God’s messengers through the gospel age. But here in the Great Tribulation, God sent His angels directly from heaven to warn sinful men to repent or face the greater wrath of God.

May the Lord grant His grace to enable men to come to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins being averted from the wrath to come. Amen.
