Revelation 11:11-12; Resurrected and Rapture (2)
Revelation 11:11-12 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
A great voice from heaven, probably that of Christ, calls them to glory as the two witnesses ascended to heaven in a cloud.
Their ascension resembles that of Christ because of the cloud through which they pass. A cloud received Christ when He ascended.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Clouds will also encompass those in Christ when they ascend into heaven.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive andremain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
What a glorious exit to this earthly life.
The ascension of the witnesses will be in the full vision of their enemies. Their ascend will be gradual enough for humans to witness as was Christ’s ascension. The difference is that it was Christ’s friends who saw Him ascend (Swete).
The snatching away of this in Christ will apparently not be that quickly because it will happen quickly as the twinkling of an eye (Walvoord).
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
May God’s people be ready! Amen.
