Revelation 11:15-16; The Kingdoms of this World are Become the Kingdoms of God
Revelation 11:15-16 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
This is a fulfilment of the expectation of the psalmist of the reign of Messiah Christ over rebellious earth.
Psalm 22:27-28 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he isthe governor among the nations.
Psalm 72:11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
Psalm 86:9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
Psalm 89:15-17 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For thou artthe glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
The scene is a duo in heaven with the saints (four and twenty elders) worshipping God giving thanks for what He has done. And the scene on earth saw the rage of earthlings. They were finally judged. The temple of God was opened in heaven with the saints entering the Holy of holies, where on earth only the high priest can enter once a year, in grateful worship.
We see the contrast continually – the judgment of those who reject God and the mercy of God to allow the gospel still be preached and finally we see the elect, the saints in their final home of rest, rejoicing and praising God. What a future for God’s people. May we indeed be preparing for that day to meet our God where rewards were wont to be given to the faithful! Let us serve Him while it is still day. Amen.
