Lord’s Day, Vol. 8 No. 29
- (1) Resumption of Worship
This is the 4thLord’s Day since our resumption of worship on 28 June 2020. Thank God for His grace in granting the church a safe opening. Let us be reminded:
Safe Entry to Worship Centre
Worshippers will have their temperature taken and to check-in using the Church’s SafeEntry QR Code at the entrance of the Sanctuary.
Individual worshippers are requested to have two seats separating them ensuring a safe distance of 1m. Members living in the same household may sit together. Alternate rows are to be occupied as a safe distancing measure. We request the physically strong and younger worshippers to be seated at Level 2. The stairs nearest to the entrance of the Worship Centre will be used as “Level 2 Entrance” and stairs further away near the PA system will be used as “Exit”.
The ushers will not be bringing the offering bags to you. The “offering bags stands” are placed in the middle of the two aisles. When the offertory hymn begins, we request worshippers to walk orderly to the “offering bag stand” nearest to you to present your offering, maintaining at least 1 metre apart at all times, beginning with the front rows of the three sections of the sanctuary.
Orderly Exit
At the end of the worship service, we would request worshippers to follow an orderly exit procedure beginning with the back row nearest to the exit, followed by the back row in the next section further from the exit. Worshippers in Level 2 will exit only after all the worshippers in Level 1 have exited from the Worship Centre, at the cue of the ushers. We should leave immediately after worship.
Submit Attendance Form
Prior registration is requested for the following week’s worship before 9 pm on Saturday to facilitate planning to receive worshippers.
Kindly be reminded the need for prior registration.
Psalm 100:4-5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Let us fervently pray for the Lord’s blessing. Amen.
(2) He Maketh the Storm a Calm
Psalm 107:29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
The psalmist testifies the blessing of fervent prayer. Our Lord is able to calm every storm in life’s pathway – Psalm 107:28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
Psalm 107:21 Oh that menwould praise the LORD forhis goodness, and forhis wonderful works to the children of men!
The people of God who cried unto the Lord in their trouble, found in Him a very present Helper, all the time. Our Lord Jesus’ words is an apt reminder –Men ought always to pray and not to faint(Luke 18:1).
Psalm 107:30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Aren’t we glad that God’s peace that passes all understanding surrounds the hearts of all who call and stay upon Him (Philippians 4:7). The quiet rest of a storm calmed and the blessing of our desired haven – a state of relief and rejoicing.
We are exhorted to understand that prayer is power. And that God answers prayer because He is All-Powerful!
Psalm 107:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he isgood: for his mercy endurethfor ever.
I am reminded of the children’s song – “My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing mine God cannot do.”
God will always prove Himself faithful! What a blessed thought. The psalmist uses the word “hesed” translated “mercy” (v1), “goodness” (v8, 15, 21, 31) and loving-kindness (v41) to describe God’s unfailing love!
Psalm 107:43 Whoso iswise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
This is the climax of praise in filial worship when God’s people testify in praise of our great God. May it cause us to share the good news of the gospel far and wide. Amen.
Yours loving,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
