Revelation 13:5; Speaking Great Things and Blasphemies
Revelation 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
The Anti-Christ (little horn) will arise after the 10 kings (Daniel 7:24) after he vanquishes 3 kings. The bible describes him as very intelligent (“eyes”), arrogant and boastful (Daniel 7:11), will persecute the saints (Daniel 7:25 cf. Matthew 24:8), subjugate and control Israel and will be judged by God (Revelation 19:19-20).
God allows him the beast to blaspheme for a limited time, but will still hold him accountable. One of the great lessons in Daniel from which John draws so heavily is the sovereignty of God over world’s governments (cf. Daniel 4:17, 25, 32) (Caird). The future will be no different. [Robert. L Thomas, Moody Press, 1995, 161]
He will rule for 3 ½ years or 42 months or a time and times and the dividing of time.
Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Matthew 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Revelation 19:19-20 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Daniel 7:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
This is the description of the last half of the Great 7-years Tribulation. It will be a time of great persecution against the Tribulation saints. The Antichrist will also take control and the Temple of God in Jerusalem (the Tribulation Temple).
Daniel 7:20-21 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
The Antichrist arise in the close of man’s history having surpassing brilliance – “eyes and mouth that spake very great things” – a special charisma. The Antichrist will persecute the saints and will succeed in subduing them.
Daniel 7:25-26 And he shall speak greatwords against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy itunto the end.
This integration will culminate with the rise of the Antichrist, the little horn, the 11thhorn out of the 10 horns. He speaks “great words” against God and persecute the saints for 3 ½ years (a time and times and the dividing of times) in the Great Tribulation until Christ comes at the end of the Great Tribulation in the battle of Armageddon to defeat the Antichrist and his minions.
Revelation 19:11-21 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.”
