Revelation 13:7; Power to Make War Against the Saints
Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
The faithful saints on earth are to be given over to the power of the beast, who will be allowed to wreak his vengeance upon them and overcome them. His authority to kill or spare will. be unlimited in range and extent, as seen in the mention of the four divisions of the human race – saints, all kindreds, and tongues and nations. [Herbert Lockyer, All About the Second Coming, Hendrickson, 2007, 110]
The beast’s rule over other humans becomes explicit. Repetition of the earlier statement about the beast’s conflict with the two witnesses (Revelation 11:7) tells of his conflict with the saints (or the rest of the woman’s seed, Revelation 12:17), the ones not escaping the dragon’s reach into the wilderness (cf. Matthew 24:16; Revelation 13:14) (Lee, Smith).
Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Matthew 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
