Revelation 4:12; Here is the Patience of the Saints
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
The saints are called to endure, keep themselves pure and keep looking to Jesus for strength and sustenance. The trials of life may be great, but for the people of God, He grants them patience and faith to finally have the victory.
Indeed, the contrast is great between the saints and the unbelievers. This will be the way eternity is determined. Satan worshippers will be judged as the devil will be judged with everlasting torment, having no rest day nor night.
Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
But for the saints, though the circumstances may be most hostile and unfriendly, he finds the strength to persevere and finally triumph. Because God’s grace is with His own.
Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
When Isaiah spoke these words, it was to the fainting nation of Israel. Weak in their understanding of their God and how they may appropriate strength for life.
The meaning of the word “wait” in Isaiah 40:31 is “wait for (prob. orig. twist, stretch, then of tension of enduring, waiting.” [BDB]
In order words, patience under pressure and tension, hanging to the promises of God, not willing to lose hope but maintain good hope to the end.
And the fruit of such a life of repentance is obedience to God’s Word and faith in trusting Jesus.
May the hymn “Trusting Jesus” encourage your heart. Amen.
