Lord’s Day, Vol. 9 No. 15
O Happy Day
It was a happy day for Mr Lee Kim Song who confessed the Lord Jesus Christ with water baptism in the afternoon of 8 April 2021. He is 92. Witnessing his baptism were his dear wife Pauline and two sons. Two close childhood friends of Pauline, her prayer partners for Mr Lee’s salvation dating back more than 80 years and their family were there to witness the baptism. Thank God for granting good weather that day.
Visitation to Mr Lee Kim Song’s home began in late 2019 to early 2020 with the intention of sharing with him the gospel. Conversing in English and his native dialect Teochew, the gospel was shared with Mr Lee.
Recalling that there were at least three visitations made on 17 September and 19 November 2020 and 25 March 2021. At the last visitation, his baptism was discussed. Family consultations were done between his wife Pauline and their sons. It was agreed having observed a change in the father after receiving the Lord that the family will prepare Mr Lee for his baptism on 8 April 2021.
Recalling that during the visitations Mr Lee was led to receive the Lord through prayer and taught to recite the Lord’s Prayer and sing the hymn “Thank You, Lord”. He also learned to pray from the use of an enlarged A5 size 66 Pocket Prayer.
Thank You, Lord
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.
How was Jesus real to Mr Lee? In the words of John Brown (1784-1858) in Discourses and Sayings of our Lord, “The declaration of His word, the ordinances of His grace, the dispensation of His providence, are all to them mirrors reflecting His excellencies. They live in the hope of giving to Him when their spirit leaves this world, and they are “looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” which is to complete the deliverance and bring them, soul and body, into eternal, most intimate communion and fellowship with Him, who is coming for their salvation. They are “looking for the Saviour from heaven – our Lord Jesus Christ – who shall change their vile bodies, and fashion them like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able to subdue things to Himself.”
It was faith in God’s promises – Romans 10:8-11 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Good Friday Service (2 April 2021)
The message “Alone” Mark 15:12-41.
The ultimate loneliness for a man is when he chooses to break fellowship with His Creator God. This is summarily denoted by not just physical death but eternal death, eternal separation from God, the Source, Giver and Sustainer of man’s life. This loneliness comes secondarily as a result of his broken fellowship with God resulting in also his broken relationship with his fellow men. Human sin has its origin in “human pride” when man is beguiled to wander away from the blessed presence His Creator God thinking that he can carve out a life of his own without depending upon the one who has given him life is sustaining his life. Why do we call “Good Friday”- “good” when we speak of the day Jesus died?
Because Jesus Christ “alone” could bring about that reversal of man’s ultimate doom. It is Christ alone, who could cure the disease of human sin. This is the humbling message of Good Friday.

Easter Sunrise Service (4 April 2021)
The message “The Resurrection Morning” Mark 16:1-20.
The womenfolk who loved the Lord dearly – Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, were last to leave the scene of Christ’s crucifixion and first to be at their Lord’s gravesite. These are the pious ones who received much from the Lord who saved them. They loved the Lord with their hearts, soul, mind and strength, brought spices and anointing oil for the Lord.
Mark 16:7 (KJV) But go, tell his disciples and Peter, He goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
Peter had denied his Lord three times. He was in sorrow for his sin. The Lord saw his penitent heart and gave special mention to tell Peter of His resurrection. Jesus is pleased with the penitent heart and sought to bring comfort to Peter’s heart (Matthew 5:4).
The pious and penitent disciples were entrusted with the gospel, to proclaim it far and wide. May the Lord help us.
Yours Lovingly,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
