Revelation 21:7; He That Overcometh (2)
Revelation 21:7 (KJV) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
The added promise “I will be his God” came first to Abraham and then to others (Genesis 17:7-8; Exodus 6:7; 20:2; 29:45; Leviticus 26:12; Numbers 15:41; Deuteronomy 29:13; 2 Samuel 7:24; Jeremiah 7:23; 11:4; 24:7; 30:22; Ezekiel 11:20; 34:24; 36:28; 37:23, 27; Zechariah 8:8).
Genesis 17:7-8 (KJV) And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
Exodus 6:7 (KJV) And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
Exodus 20:2 (KJV) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Exodus 29:45 (KJV) And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
Leviticus 26:12 (KJV) And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
Deuteronomy 29:13 (KJV) That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
2 Samuel 7:24 (KJV) For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.
Jeremiah 7:23 (KJV) But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Jeremiah 11:4 (KJV) Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
Jeremiah 24:7 (KJV) And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
Jeremiah 30:22 (KJV) And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Ezekiel 11:20 (KJV) That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Ezekiel 34:24 (KJV) And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.
Ezekiel 36:28 (KJV) And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Ezekiel 37:23 (KJV) Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
Ezekiel 37:27 (KJV) My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Zechariah 8:8 (KJV) And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
The essence of the promise is a repetition of Revelation 21:3.
Revelation 21:3 (KJV) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
