John 14:21 Proof of Love

John 14:21 (KJV)  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

The proof of Christian life is a heart inclined to obey the commandments of God. A heart prepared to imbibe God’s Word and to retain it. This is the proof of God’s love in our hearts that Jesus revealed to us. Such a one will also enjoy sweet fellowship with Christ and experience the immensity of God’s love!

Such is our privilege. It begins with praying and reading our Bible that we may know the will of God and be inclined with His love to walk in it.

Did not God first love us before we can respond to Him? Definitely, for the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5).

God’s love brings hope in our hearts to live and to do the will of God for His honour and glory.

Jesus says in Matthew 10:42 (KJV)  And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

How does Christ manifest Himself to us? By showing us that He is real and near and looking after us.

When the Apostle Paul was in Corinth to share the gospel our Lord said to him – Acts 18:9-10 (KJV)  Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

When the Apostle John was in prison on the island of Patmos, our Lord gave him the Apocalypse – Revelation 1:7-8 (KJV)  Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Jesus continues to manifest Himself through the Spirit of Christ that we may have the strength to do the will of God – Romans 8:26-27 (KJV)  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Let us rest in God’s love this new day. Amen.
