Proverbs 23:12 Apply Thine Heart Unto Instruction
Proverbs 23:12 (KJV) Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
The word “apply” is a command that means “to bring in”. To bring into the heart instruction. The word “instruction” means “discipline, chastening, correction”. Hardly pleasant word yet needful for our salvation and sanctification.
We may be brought to realize our sin, repent of it and do that which is right in the sight of God.
This the Spirit of God will do when we will be willing to listen to the Word of God being declared with prayer – Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Solomon exhorted his son in Proverbs 24:13-14 (KJV) My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
The Lord bless His Word to our hearts. Amen.
