Psalm 62:6 My Rock, My Salvation, My Defense
Psalm 62:6 (KJV) He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
The recognition of who God is brings one to extol like in the psalmist when he said in Psalm 62:5 (KJV) My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
The word “expectation” is literally “a cord” as an attachment, it means “hope”. A sure hope, an unbroken cord. Therefore, the psalmist said I silently, keep still, be motionless, standstill, waiting upon my God.
He described God as a Rock. Jesus illustrated this in Matthew 7:24-25 (KJV) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Let us rely on Him for He only is our true salvation or Deliverer, and defence or Protector. Let us resort and call unto Him. Amen.
