Colossians 1:14 Forgiven!
Colossians 1:14 (KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
The saints find forgiveness in Christ. This is the redemption that is received through the blood of Christ shed on the cross where He was crucified.
This redemption well explained the work of Christ on the cross in Colossians 1:13 (KJV) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Indeed, there were three hours of darkness as Christ took the punishment for our sins on the cross – Matthew 27:45-46 (KJV) Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
The last moments of Christ’s suffering saw Him testifying to the finished work of bearing the sins of His people – John 19:28-30 (KJV) After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Thank God that forgiveness came through Christ and His willingness to suffer on our behalf. Let us be most grateful for the great redemption we have received through Christ. Amen.
