Psalm 118:23-24 Compassed but Quenched
Psalm 118:12-14 (KJV) They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
Ironically, the odds are seemingly always against the psalmist yet he testified that even the fire of thorns is quenched by the power of the LORD. The overwhelming strength of the enemy seemed about to overrun the fort, that it might fall.
Yet the LORD helped yet again. He is determined that His servant must not fall. His own Name is at stake. As it is declared in His Word, there comes victory in the LORD. He gives strength when strength is waning. He gives a song of victory that becomes our salvation.
All who call upon the Name of Christ shall not be ashamed but triumphant. This is the blessing of life with God – Luke 21:15 (KJV) For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Amen.
