Daniel 3:18 We Will Not Serve Thy Gods
Daniel 3:18 (KJV) But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
The words of Daniel’s friends were words of courage and valour. For their conviction to honour only their God and not serve the idols in Babylon will mean certain death for them. However, the Lord has granted them a resolute spirit and not a spirit of fear to do the will of God.
As Paul says to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7-8 (KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
According to the power of God, willing to be partakers of the afflictions of faith to the God of Israel, the friends of Daniel – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego would be thrown into the fiery furnace. They were ready to perish with the flames consuming them yet they did not perish.
Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
Daniel 3:27 (KJV) And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellers, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
All glory to His Name. Amen.
