Colossians 3:3 Dead Yet Alive
Colossians 3:3 (KJV) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
The word “life” speaks of the supernatural life, the new life in Christ. This new life is born when the “old” life died at some point in the past is the sense of the text. Our sins have been dealt with by Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf in His life and in His death and by His resurrection.
And this new life is being “hidden” or “concealed” in Christ in the living and true God. There was a time when it is enabled to begin and the results of it continue on!
In other words, when the new life or spiritual life begins at the rebirth, it is a protected life. Being protected in Christ from thence forever. That’s the meaning of the word “hid”.
The psalmist articulates this well in Psalm 121:7-8 (KJV) The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Let us, therefore, understand our standing in Christ and rejoice forevermore. Amen.
