Genesis 15:6 Counted Thus Accepted
Genesis 15:6 (KJV) And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
It was faith that gave Abraham the understanding to comprehend the will of God concerning the child that God would give to him in his old age. He had been childless.
Genesis 15:4-5 (KJV) And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
It was a futuristic promise that God had given Abraham that will be fulfilled in his lifetime and beyond his lifetime. Here is the limitation of time that constrains Abraham to his present circumstances yet God would have him to see concerning the future blessing.
Living in the light of God’s promises, Abraham’s earthly sojourn takes on a divinely enabled meaning that makes present circumstances a present joy. This is the blessed life of faith walking with God.
Let us believe the promises of God in His Word for our present comfort and joy. Amen.
