Psalm 19:7 The Law of the LORD Is Perfect
Psalm 19:7 (KJV) The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The law (instruction) “the TORAH” of the LORD is perfect, it is complete. The psalmist, I believed, believed (as one late pastor also observed) in the inerrancy and infallibility of the Scriptures. The word means “whole, entire”. It is God’s sole compass for life to men. “Every syllable, every jot, every tittle, every sentence, every pen stroke is put there by the mind and purpose of God. All Scripture is given by inspiration (by the very breath) of God, and God makes no mistakes, so the law of God is perfect and perfectly preserved for us today.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
And thus, has the power to convert the soul – 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
God reveals His law (as summarised in the Ten Commandments) that we may believe that He is God and that He has given to us the right way to live and have our being. Amen.
