Ephesians 6:12 Rulers of the Darkness of This World

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 

The realm of the darkness of this world has its rulers that wrought spiritual wickedness bringing much misery and suffering. The believers are in contention with such evil powers that seek to corrupt them. Indeed as Paul pointed out in 1 Corinthians 15:50 (KJV)  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 

In the Old Testament, it was recorded how Israel fell to the dark forces in Numbers 25:1-3 (KJV)  And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. 

The daughters of Moab led the children of Israel to commit whoredom and subsequently bow to the gods of the Moabites. Great incursions into Israel’s peace. God’s judgment came and many thousands died as a result.

Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 

Ephesians 6:13 (KJV)  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 

May the Lord’s people be equipped with the whole armour of God to wage a good warfare. Amen.
